January 31, 2009: New deadline for nominations to press freedom awards

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invites applications for the World Press Freedom Prize 2009. The prize (valued at 25,000 American dollars) honours a person, organization, or institution that has made a notable contribution to the defence and/or promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world, especially if this involved risk.
Organizations may nominate a maximum of three candidates. Self-nominations are not
