Farm Radio International congratulates Jefferson Massah on being named Development Journalist of the Year by the Press Union of Liberia! Jefferson won this award for a story about women in agricultural development in Liberia.
Jefferson is the producer of a development program on Radio Gbarnga that focuses on community agriculture development, health, and education. He says he has a lot of interest in working with rural people and exploring the challenges they face.
He also credits Farm Radio International’s online scriptwriting courses with helping him to develop the skills he uses to produce his program, including his award-winning story. As he explains, “[I] employed all the skills acquired from Farm Radio to produce a very good report from a rice processing centre managed by group of rural women in central Liberia.”
He adds, “I am very pleased to imprint my contribution to the ‘achievement column’ of Farm Radio International as one who has immensely benefited [from] its training program.”
Like many broadcasters who work in partnership with Farm Radio International, Jefferson is also a member of Barza, our online community for radio broadcasters.
Barza is an online space where broadcasters can connect with others in the African broadcasting industry who are creating programs like theirs; share scripts, videos, and photos; and find useful resources about farming, the art of broadcasting, and more.
